Belkin Unveils 'ConnectAir' Wireless HDMI Adapter That Works Without Wi-Fi or Apps

Belkin has announced the ConnectAir Wireless HDMI Display Adapter, a new casting solution that ditches the need for Wi-Fi networks or software drivers. Debuting ahead of CES 2026, the device offers a simple way to mirror or extend a screen by creating a direct peer-to-peer connection between the transmitter and receiver.

The hardware setup includes a USB-C transmitter that plugs into your device and an HDMI receiver that connects to a TV or monitor. Once connected, it can beam 1080p video at 60Hz with a range of about 131 feet (40 meters). Belkin says latency stays under 80 milliseconds, which should keep things responsive enough for video streaming or clicking through slides during a presentation.

Since the system relies on USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode, it is compatible with macOS laptops, including the new M5 MacBook Pro, as well as USB-C iPad Pro and iPad Air models. While it supports various USB-C smartphones, Belkin's documentation currently indicates it is not compatible with iPhones. The HDMI receiver requires power to operate, which it can draw from a TV's USB port if it supplies at least 2.3W, though older displays might require a separate wall adapter.

For shared environments like classrooms, a single receiver can link up with eight different transmitters, allowing multiple people to share the screen without having to constantly swap cables. The ConnectAir Wireless HDMI Display Adapter is priced at $149.99 and is scheduled to ship in the first quarter of 2026.
