Apple released iOS 26.2.1 and iPadOS 26.2.1 today, pushing out a minor update with build number 23C71. The release arrives just in time to support new hardware shipping later this week.
The main reason for the update is the second-generation AirTag. Since the new trackers feature an upgraded Ultra Wideband chip and improved Bluetooth connectivity, the OS needed a patch to handle pairing and tracking properly. If you ordered one, you'll want to grab this update before it arrives to ensure everything works out of the box.
Apple says the software also includes general bug fixes. This release follows iOS 26.2 from last month, which brought changes to the Liquid Glass interface and AirDrop. Looking ahead, developers are already testing iOS 26.3, a larger update expected later this spring.
You can download the update by navigating to Settings > General > Software Update on your device.
