Voici les instructions pour jailbreaker votre iPhone 3 sous l'iOS 4.2.1 en utilisant RedSn0w pour Windows. La version Mac de ce tutoriel est disponible ici.

Soyez sur de ne pas mettre à jour en iOS 4.3.1 si vous avez besoin de désimlocker, vu qu'il n'existe pas encore de désimlock.

Première étape
Créez un dossier Pwnage sur votre bureau.

Téléchargez RedSn0w sur ce site et mettez-le dans le dossier Pwnage. Ensuite, téléchargez le dernier firmware 4.3.1 d'en dessous et mettez-le dans le même dossier.

4.3.1 (4 GSM): iPhone3,1_4.3.1_8G4_Restore.ipsw

Décompresser l'archive RedSn0w dans le même dossier.

Deuxième étape
Connectez votre iPhone à votre ordinateur et lancez iTunes.

Choisissez votre iPhone dans la liste des appareils à gauche. Maintenant gardez enfoncé la touche Maj (Shift) et cliquez sur le bouton Restaurer. Restaurer est préférable car cela permet de ne pas gâcher de la place sur votre iPhone.

Naviguez dans votre dossier Pwnage sur votre bureau et sélectionnez le firmware 4.3.1 ipsw. Cliquez sur le bouton Choisir pour continuer.

Troisième étape
Une fois qu'iTunes a fini de mettre à jour votre iPhone à votre firmware désiré, ouvrez le dossier Pwnage de votre bureau et lancez l'application redsn0w du dossier redsn0w que vous avez décompressé plus tôt.

Quatrième étape
Une fois que RedSn0w est lancé, cliqyez sur le bouton Browse

Cinquième étape
Choisissez le firmware 4.3.1 ipsw que vous avez placez dans le dossier Pwnage de votre bureau, puis cliquez sur Open.

Sixième étape
Une fois que le firmware a été vérifié, cliquez sur le bouton Next pour continuer.

Septième étape
RedSn0w va maintenant préparer les données pour le jailbreak.

Huitième étape
Depuis cette fenêtre, vous pouvez choisir les options de jailbreak que vous voulez.

Soyez sur que Cydia est coché et cliquez sur le bouton Next pour continuer.

Neuvième étape
Branchez votre votre iPhone à votre ordinateur et soyez sur qu'il est éteint, puis cliquez sur le bouton Next.

Dixième étape
RedSn0w va maintenant vous guider à travers les étapes pour passer en mode DFU. Vous pouvez trouver plus d'aide avec ce mode DFU ici

Tenez enfoncé le bouton Home et le bouton Power pendant 10 secondes.

Relâchez le bouton Power et continuez d'enfoncer le bouton Home jusqu'à ce que RedSn0w détecte l'appareil.

Onzième étape
Votre iPhone va maintenant redémarrer.

Douzième étape
RedSn0w va maintenant commencer à envoyer la nouvelle RAM Disk et le Kernel

Trézième étape
Une fois ceci terminé vous serai averti que RedSn0w a fini. Cliquez sur le bouton Finish. Quand votre iPhone aura fini de redémarrer (5 minutes à peu près) il sera jailbreaké avec Cydia sur le SpringBoard.

*Comme d'habitude, un grand merci à la iPhone Dev-Team et I0n1c pour leur gros travail et leur contribution à la communauté iPhone.
**Les utilisateurs de Windows 7 devraient pouvoir lancer l'application RedSn0w avec les droits administrateurs en compatibilité Windows Vista si vous rencontrez des problèmes.

I have this firmware in my iphone and i want to upgrade it only to 5.1 even though 6.1 is out. Is this even possible?

At the beginning of the article it says do not update firmware to 4.3.3. I checked my iphone 4 and I got firmware 4.3.3 already. My baseband version is 04.10.01 Does it change anything on the procedure?

That means itunes is not recognizing your iphone. Update your itunes to 10.2 version and then connect.

I downloaded windows 4.3.3 firmware but for some reason there is no iPhone3,1_4.3.3_8J2_Restore.IPSW file like you show in your text or utube explanation. There is a directory with full of files but none of them has the IPSW extention. The restore file is is quicktimepreferences link. So resn0w cannot find the IPSW file because it dosn't exist. Can you tell me how to find the iPhone3,1_4.3.3_8J2_Restore.IPSW file? Thanks very much for your help Best Nina

I got caught out by this too. If you downloaded using Internet Explorer trying downloading again using Firefox or Chrome. IE always seems to screw up the file extensions so it doesn't appear right. I tink there's a workaround if you only have IE but using Firefox is by far the easiest solution.

I want to jailbreak my Iphone4 , firmware 4.1, to the latest 4.3.3. I'ts jailbreaked and full of apps from Cydia. What do i need to do not to loose all my apps with the firmware upgrade? Do i need to upgrade the firmware in iTunes and then Jailbreak it or it doesn't need to update first? Cheers from Portugal :)

Just JB to 4.3.3, I haven't done a JB since 1st gen iphone, so i just have a quick quesstion. Everything is good so far, everything works and what not, but all my data is gone, music, contacts etc, is it safe to restore the data from a backup i have moments before i started the JB? It won't brick my phone will it?

Yup it's cool to back up from your old backup. It will restore all of your data.

Even "Carrier Reset fix" do not work to solve the problem. Seems to be an Jailbreak error. Also tried it with redsnow rc16. Any answers ??? (IPhone 4 BB 04.10.01 / IOS 4.3.3)

Find the answer : 1. reboot in DFU mode 2. after reeboot activate mobile with itunes und wait for network signal (if you jailbreak with redsnow before activation than the problem with no network occurs) 3. Backup your files from itunes to phone 4. jailbreak

Download the file again and put .ipsw at the end of the file. It's trying to make it a different file.

Well tried to jail break with 4.3.2, all went well expect after rebooting the phone is stuck saying error mounting rootfs - read only, it says giving up after trying for 6000ms. Any one encountered this. I have already tried run as admin / compatibility modes. Need help from you guys !!!

"Step Two ... hold down Shift and click the Restore button... Navigate to the Pwnage folder on your desktop and select the 4.3.3 firmware ipsw. Click the Choose button to continue." That would update the BASEBAND, thus leaving the iPhone 4 unlockeable (for those who have an old baseband). How comes this is not mentioned?
