Vaihe 1
Tee työpöydällesi kansio nimeltään Pwnage

Lataa RedSn0w- ohjelman torrent tiedosto tästä ja avaa tiedosto ohjelmalla Transmission. Sen voit ladata tästä. Kun olet avannut lataamasi torrent tiedoston Transmissionilla, ohjelma pyytää sinua tallentamaan tiedoston johonkin. Etsi sieltä tekemäsi "Pwnage" kansio ja tallenna sinne. Kun tiedosto on latautunut, sulje Transmission.

Seuraavaksi, lataa uusin iPhone OS 3.0 ohjelmisto ja sijoita se Pwnage kansioon.

HUOMAUTUS*: iPod touch 3.0 täytyy ostaa ensin iTunesista. iTunes tallentaa ohjelmistotiedostot tänne:
~/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates/iPod2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw
~/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates/iPod1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

Pura redsn0w ohjelma RedSn0w zip- tiedostosta Pwnage kansioon:

Vaihe 2
Liitä iPodisi tietokoneeseen ja avaa iTunes.

Valitse iPodisi "Laitteet"- listasta. Nyt, midä pohjassa Option- näppäintä ja klikkaa Palauta painiketta. Ennen tätä, varmista, että iPodin sisältö on turvallisesti tietokoneella, sillä kaikki tiedot pyyhkiytyvät.

Eteesi avautuu lista. Navigoi Pwnage kansioon työpöydälläsi ja valitse sinne siirtämäsi iPhone OS ipsw tiedosto. Klikkaa Avaa painiketta.

Vaihe 3
Kun iTunes on vihdoin palauttanut iPodisi, mene Pwnage kansioon ja avaa redsnw0w.app.

Vaihe 4
Kun RedSn0w avautuu, klikkaa Browse painiketta.

Vaihe 5
Valitse pwnage kansioon siirtämäsi ipsw tiedosto ja klikkaa Open

Vaihe 6
Kun ohjelmisto on "tarkastettu", klikkaa Next painiketta jatkaaksesi.

Vaihe 7
Varmista, että Cydia on valittu ja klikkaa Next painiketta.

Vaihe 8
Yhdistä iPod Touch tietokoneeseen ja kytke siitä virta pois jonka jälkeen klikkaa Next painiketta.

Vaihe 9
RedSn0w opastaa nyt sinua iPodin laittamisessa DFU tilaan. Jos haluat, voit etsiä lisää tietoa DFU tilasta tästä

Pidä koti- ja virtapainikkeitapohjassa 10 sekuntia.

Vapauta virtapainike ja jatka koti painikkeen pitämistä pohjassa, kunnes RedSn0w tunnistaa iPodisi. (Älä purista liikaa tai ipodisi saattaa puraista sinua)

Vaihe 10
iPodisi käynnistyy nyt uudestaan.

Vaihe 11
RedSn0w nyt siirtää iPodiisi tarvittavaa RAM Levyä..

Vaihe 11
Hetken kuluttua kaiken pitäisi olla valmista. Klikkaa Finish painiketta.

iPodisi käynnistyy uudestaan (5 minuuttia tai vähemmän). Tämän jälkeen iPodisi on vihdoin jailbrekattu ja Cydia on ilmestynyt kotinäytöllesi.

I installed Winterboard, clicked reboot and the ipod 1gen is stuck at the pineapple logo. After about 20 secs it just goes black

Why is it that when i download the redsnow file on my mac, it downloads as a zip file and i never had that trouble because i have a program that opens zip files stuffit

Ok.. this is somewhat of an update to this tutorial. I used RedSn0w 0.8 to jailbreak my 2G iPod Touch on a MAC. Firstly, you will need to upgrade your device's OS to version 3. You can download this for your device. Google and Softpedia is your friend. Use that firmware that I had just mentioned above for the steps mentioned in the tutorial. When entering in DFU mode and RedSn0W says waiting for reboot, what I did was to unplug my USB cable from the computer momentarily and inserted it back. That caused the device to continue with the jailbreak process. Another note worthy thing is that you need to used APPLESYNC 3.0 and not MIPATCH for a device that has been upgraded to 3.0. It will cause the device to hang on boot.

If it wasn't for the unplug/replug, I'd be waiting forever.... I tried this about a dozen times, with a bunch of different tutorials (all telling me the SAME THING) until I found this comment!! It's now actually DOING something!

I thought the jailbreak failed as the iPod touch 2.0 didn't reboot automatically and Cydia didn't appear on the home page, but it was there all along on the page to the right on the home page. Check there!

attempting 2G 3.0 JB on 10.6 ----------- I get no response after DFU. (No progress indicator change) Just hangs? Red recognizes the device (I assume, as it makes it passed dfu check) but hangs up soon after. I've tried using VM (parallels/XP) but nothing. any workarounds or other solutions besides red? (I'm not a touch guy, but I do have experience with the phone) cheers-

you need to look further in this website (iphone hack section) and install ultrasn0w via cydia in order for you to access different carriers.

Same thing with me. What is confusing is that the tutorial doesnt mention anything of what the iPod itself states ( for instance: installing binaries). Is there anyway of getting my pod working again? iTunes does not recognize it. Pressing start doesn't help, neither does Start and Home button. All black and dead.... help!

In step two: hold down shift and click the Restore button should be replaced with: hold down option and click the Restore button
