A video demonstrating early work on porting the "Spirit" jailbreak by @comex to iPad has been posted on YouTube by MuscleNerd.

The "Logging into the iPad...jailbreak style" video shows commands being executed from the iPad root shell.

Its still unclear if comex plans to release the userland jailbreak now or wait until 4.0 comes out.

Nice, now iPad users can... what's the point of jailbreaking the iPad again? What are the benefits?

Maybe the freedom to not be held down by being told what software we can use on our products. There are tons of great third party software apps we will never get because some monkey in a box gets to choose what I get to purchase. So we void our warranty and jailbreak and make our iphones and hopefully ipads truly our own. Keep up the great work Dev teams!!

OMG why is there always that guy that just has to bring up voiding the warranty? Uh, we know that and we knew that when we hacked our phones too. And guess what? We don't care.
