Apple and Netflix have teamed up on a new Formula 1 collaboration that will see "Formula 1: Drive to Survive" stream on Apple TV in the U.S., while Netflix airs the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix live to American viewers.

Starting February 27, the eighth season of "Formula 1: Drive to Survive" will stream simultaneously on Netflix globally and on Apple TV in the U.S. Season 8 follows the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship, capturing teammate rivalries, driver changes, management shakeups, and the arrival of six rookies to the grid.

The collaboration also gives Netflix its first live Formula 1 race. As part of the agreement, Netflix will broadcast the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix live to U.S. viewers during the race weekend from May 22 through May 24.

The partnership comes as Apple prepares to take over as the exclusive U.S. broadcaster for Formula 1 beginning with the 2026 season. Coverage starts with the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Australian Grand Prix, taking place over the weekend of March 5. Apple TV will deliver every practice session, qualifying race, sprint session, and Grand Prix throughout the season.

While most races will require an Apple TV subscription, the company is finalizing plans to make select events available to watch for free on its platform. In addition to Netflix carrying the Canadian Grand Prix, streaming service Tubi will also show a limited number of races.

Apple recently detailed the viewing experience for the upcoming season, including a robust Multiview interface. Rather than relying solely on the standard international broadcast feed, Apple is building a custom experience that allows subscribers to watch up to four feeds simultaneously. Available channels include a driver tracker, a live data channel, dedicated podium channels that automatically follow the onboard cameras of the top three drivers, and bespoke team channels that combine the international feed with team-specific onboard cameras and live radio communications. Viewers will also have the option to switch to Sky Sports F1 coverage.

Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of services, highlighted the significance of the partnership during a recent media call. "We're excited to announce something I think no one was expecting," Cue said. "Netflix, I think, has played a pivotal role in growing F1 since the launch of Drive to Survive, and we're thrilled to make F1 content more broadly available to new and existing U.S. fans on both Netflix and Apple TV."

The arrangement supports Apple's broader push into sports programming. The company recently announced a separate deal to broadcast five major Grands Prix live in IMAX theaters across the United States.
