Amazon Replaces Ad-Free Tier With 'Prime Video Ultra', Hikes Price to $4.99

Amazon has announced a new "Prime Video Ultra" tier that will become its ad-free streaming option in the United States starting April 10, raising the monthly add-on price while introducing additional features.



The new plan replaces the current ad-free option, increasing the price from $2.99 per month to $4.99 per month. It will be the only way for Prime members to watch Prime Video without ads.


Alongside the higher price, Amazon is expanding the feature set. Prime Video Ultra includes support for up to five concurrent streams and up to 100 offline downloads, up from the previous limits of three streams and 25 downloads. The plan also offers exclusive access to 4K/UHD streaming and Dolby Atmos audio.

Prime members who subscribe to the standard plan will continue to receive the core Prime Video benefit, which includes HD, HDR10, HDR10+, and now Dolby Vision support at no additional cost. The base plan also sees its limits increase to four concurrent streams and 50 offline downloads.

If you are already a Prime member at $14.99 per month or $139 per year, you can opt for an annual Prime Video Ultra plan at $45.99, which represents a 23% discount compared to paying monthly.

Despite the move to an ad-free Ultra tier, live sports, live TV, and certain ad-supported content and subscriptions may still include commercials. The same catalog of Amazon MGM Studios originals, including series like Fallout, Reacher, and The Boys, remains available regardless of tier.


Prime Video Ultra is launching in the U.S. only for now.
