RedSn0w has been updated to jailbreak iOS 4.1 on the iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G
This is a beta release of redsn0w for the iPhone3G and iPod Touch 2G at FW 4.1 or 4.0. It uses the same pwnage2 DFU-mode exploit that we've been using since the 2.x days. It does not include the SHAtter exploit developed by pod2g. Nothing new is revealed to Apple with this jailbreak.
IF YOU USE THE ULTRASN0W UNLOCK, PLEASE WAIT FOR PWNAGETOOL TO SUPPORT 4.1. DO NOT USE REDSN0W. That’s because to use redsn0w at 4.1, you need to already have updated to official 4.1 from Apple. If you do that, you lose the ultrasn0w unlock (possible forever).
Currently this RedSn0w 0.9.6 release is Mac OS X only; however, a Windows very will come in the near future.
You can find instructions on how to use RedSn0w here. Simply download this new RedSn0w build and use the 4.1 ipsw instead of the 4.0 one in the tutorial.

I dont understand why is the unlock for 4.1 out for iPhone3GS but no unlocking software for iPhone4 with firmware 4.0.2 with baseband 01.59.00 ;( i cant use my iphone4 with other network service i really wNt the unlock software and hopefully it will be out soon thanks so much for the hard work and may god bless all

I have a 3g phone that has 4.0 that is jb and unlocked. It was like that when I got it. How do I know what method was used to jb/unlock (pwned, blacksnow, redsnow)?

if you need an unlock do not update to 4.1 there is no unlock for that yet

It says redsn0w for iphone 3G NOT iphone 4. You have to wait a little longer til these genius release the tool to jb and unlock the 4.

I hope they release RedSn0w for iPhone 4. I have a factory unlocked iPhone 4 from Canada, so the baseband update doesn't affect me. RELEASE RELEASE! ;-)

carrier lock baseband update will last till end of this year. next year there will be no carrier lock iphone. all iphone will be unlocked next year

MAC only! worked on my 3g with no problem. WIFI, BT, etc. works. 3G is now faster compare to 4.0.2.
