Observant developers have found several references to multitasking in the latest iPhone SDK Beta.
9to5Mac reader Al found the following mention of a "multitasking dialog box".
New to Apex, some devices/builds have spotlight lumped in with the multitasking dialog box. If we couldn't get to springboard the old way, try the new one (it's just a double-tap of home button)
Of course, it can't be confirmed that this refers to a dialog for third party background apps; however, an earlier report today quotes reliable sources that say multitasking is coming.
