Queste sono le istruzioni per eseguire il jailbreak e lo sblocco dell' iPhone 3G con firmware iOS 4.2.1 tramite RedSn0w per Mac.

Se volete usare Redsn0w per il jailbreak di una versione firmware inferiore potete trovare il tutorial adatto qui .

NOTA IMPORTANTE PER GLI UNLOCKERS
Nel corso del processo potrete eseguire l'update della baseband alla versione 6.15 . Se la vostra versione di baseband è 05.14 , 05.15 o superiore è necessario eseguire l'update per potere effettuare lo sblocco. Se volete eseguire solo il jailbreak non è necessario fare l'update della baseband alla versione 6.15. Attenzione leggere attentamente le istruzioni prima di iniziare qualunque tipo di operazione. Verificate attentamente la versione della basebandhere.

1. Non esiste possibilità di eseguire il downgrade dalla baseband 06.15, non è possibile nascondere l'aggiornamento per cui potreste perdere la vostra eventuale garanzia da parte di Apple.
2. Nel caso di rilascio di future baseband con aggiornamenti critici , no sarà possibile eseguire l'update fino a quando queste saranno nel range 05.xx (in ogni caso non è possibile effettuare l'update e mantenere comunque l'unlock)
3. Partite dal FW 4.2.1 se avete la baseband 06.15 sul vostro iPhone non sarà possibile fare il rstore con stock firmware (il restore fallirebbe ). Sarà possibile fare il restore solo con custom IPSWs (se sei un unlocker lo avrai già fatto in precedenza).
4. Sono stati segnalati episodi di disabilitazione del GPS dopo l’update alla baseband 06.15.
L’ iPhone Dev-Team sta attualmente lavorando ad un fix.

Non fare l’update a 06.15 se non è assolutamente necessario! Fatelo solo se siete bloccati su 05.14 o 05.15 e avete necessità ad effettuare lo sblocco, decliniamo ogni responsabilità derivante da danni conseguenti dall’effettuare l’update se lo effettuate comunque sappiate che i rischi sono a vostro carico. Se la vostra baseband è sbloccabile ed il firmware è in versione inferiore usate PwnageTool per l’ update a 4.2.1 senza fare l’upgrade della baseband.

Passo Uno
Create una cartella sul vostro desktop e rinominatela in Pwnage

Download RedSn0w da here e salavatelo nella cartella Pwnage creata. Nello stesso modo potete fare il download del firmware 4.2.1 dal link seguente e salvarlo nella stessa cartella.

4.2.1 (3G): iPhone1,2_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw

Estraete l’applicazione redsn0w dal file RedSn0w zip file facendo doppio click sul file.

Passo Due
***Se avete già l’ iOS 4.2.1 potete saltare questo passaggio. Se avete una baseband non sbloccabile ed una versione firmware inferiore dovete usare PwnageTool per fare l’update senza fare l’upgrade della vostra baseband.

Connettete il vostro iPhone al computer e lanciate iTunes.

Selezionate il vostro iPhone dall’elenco dei dispositivi alla vostra sinistra. Premete Option e fate Click sul tasto Restore . Il Restore è preferibile per non creare spazio inutilizzato sull’iPhone.

Aprite la cartella Pwnage sul vostror desktop e selezionate il file 4.2.1 firmware ipsw. Fate Click sul tasto Choose per continuare.

Passo Tre
Appena iTunes ha terminato di effettuare l’aggiornamento firmware del vostro iPhone aprite la cartella Pwnage sul vostro desktop e lanciate l’applicazione redsn0w dalla cartella redsn0w estratta in precedenza.

Passo Quattro
Avviato RedSn0w fate Click sul tasto Browse

Passo Cinque
Selezionate il firmware 4.2.1 ipsw che trovate nella cartella Pwnage sul vostro desktop quindi fate Click su Open.

Passo Sei
Al termine della verifica del firmware fate Click sul tasto Next per proseguire.

Passo Sette
RedSn0w preparerà i dati per il jailbreak

Passo Otto
In questa finestra potete selezionare le opzioni desiderate per il jailbreak .

Verbose boot mostra informazioni dettagliate al boot del vostro dispositivo ed è generalmente richiesta da sviluppatori ed utenti avanzati.

Accertatevi di selezionare l’opzione Cydia. In questo tutorial selezioneremo inoltre Custom boot logo e Custom recovery logo.

Quando selezionate un opzione del custom logo si apre una finestra di dialogo che vi vhieserà di selezionare un immagine. Individuate l’immagine che volete usare quindi premete il pulsante Open .

*Ricordate che i formati immagine per il boot logos sono: RGB o Grayscale con Alpha channel e dimensioni 320x480. Se volete usare la immagini iClarified potete prelevarle qui: Boot Logo, Recovery Logo

Noterete che RedSn0w può abilitare il multitasking, abilitare lo sfondo dell’homescreen , e abilitare la visualizzazione della percentuale di carica della batteria. Se non avete necessità del multitasking raccomandiamo di deselezionare l’opzione perché rallenta il funzionamento del vostro iPhone 3G.

Se avete letto con attenzione gli avvisi precedenti e volete comunque fare l’update della vostra baseband alla versione 06.15 iPad per lo sblocco del terminale allora selezionate Install iPad Baseband. Fate Click su Yes quando richiesto per confermare la vostra decisione.

Fate Click sul tasto Nextper continuare

Passo Nove
Connettete il vostro iPhone al computer accertandovi che sia spento quindi fate Click sul tasto Next

Passo Dieci
RedSn0w vi guiderà nei passi necessari a mettere il terminale in DFU mode. Puoi trovare un ulteriore aiuto sul DFU mode qui

Tenete contemporaneamente premuti i tasti Home e Power per circa 10 secondi.

Rilasciate il tastoPower mentre continuate a tenere premuto il tasto Home fino a quando RedSn0w rileva il dispositivo.

Passo Undici
RedSn0w eseguirà ora il download della baseband dell’ iPad sul vostro iPhone che effettuerà il reboot

Passo Dodici
RedSn0w inizierà ora l’uploading dei nuovi RAM Disk e Kernel.

Passo tredici
Al termine della procedura sarete avvisati che RedSn0w ha completato. Fate Click sul tasto Finish. Al termine del rebooting del vostro iPhone (5 minuti circa) questo sarà jailbroken con Cydia presente nella SpringBoard.

Sblocco/unlock
A questo punto se desiderate potete seguire il tutorial per lo sblocco qui this.

I did all this and it worked perfectly on my iPhone 3g until it refused to show my sim network. The phone was originally locked to telstra then unlocked properly and I still have a telstra sim. But it only shows 1 bar with no data network like it normally does. I have it in a place where I would normally get 5 bar full reception and I still have only 1 bar. Removing and re-inserting sim does not work, it just shows "no sim". Anyone able to help??

On an iPhone 3G, Is it possible to upgrade to a higher firmware than 4.2.1 once you have gone to a baseband of 06.15.00?

this didn't work for me. my phone is stuck with an apple logo and the spinning wheel (stopped) on the screen. i tried holding down the power for quite some time but nothing happened

if i hold down power & home the phone will shut off, but i cannot get it back into DFU mode. if i let it sit it just freezes again.

i had to have itunes open before it would detect and restore it. restoring the official firmware now and will try again. what a PITA. not sure what went wrong because the guides here have always been flawless...

after freshly restoring to 4.2.1 i tried jailbreaking again. again didn't work. everything seemed fine and i saw the pineapple logo but after reboot it just freezes. i waited way longer than 5 mins. going to drop it for now and let my comments stew for a few days. write back if you have any suggestions.

Hi, Thanks for the extensive post. I am having a iPhone 3G with 4.2.1. I want to know whether running this jailbreak will wipe my data or not? Also if I want to revert to factory settings, will I be able to do that after jailbreaking? How to do the same, any links. Look forward to the above two answers. Thanks.

It did erase all my data, and at the end of the day, it did not work. After a couple of attempts, it just stays in the reboot screen!

May 27, 2011 Here is how I finally did it. For a 3G 4.2.1 with baseband 05.15.04 How to Jailbreak and Unlock Your iPhone 3G Using RedSn0w (Mac 0.9.6rc17) [4.2.1]. Jailbreak opens the phone so you can install non-apple software. You will use Cydia to install a program in the unlock phase. I couldn't follow the directions as written. Instead I had to use RedSn0w in a 3 step process rather than the 1step described. Instructions at: https://iclarified.com/12947. Following the instructions always resulted in the program turning off in the last phase before downloading the changes and restarting the phone. How I modified the instructions and got it too work. First use RedSn0w to boot tethered. Second use RedSn0w to add Cydia. Third use RedSn0w to change the baseband to the iPad 06.15 version (this has significant implications make sure you understand them first). After the jailbreak you have to unlock your phone. How to Unlock the iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G Using UltraSn0w Unlock uses a program you download to your phone from Cydia called UltraSn0w. Instructions at: https://iclarified.com/4253

This article states that if you have firmware 4.2.1 and you install the 6.15.00 iPad BaseBand that "you wont ever be able to restore to stock firmware (it will fail)." This is in fact not true. Perhaps at the time of writing, but it is now possible to restore to stock firmwares, however I advise against it, you should always use compatible custom.ipsw firmwares.

I havea 3G, everything worked and had it unlocked....someone updated it on itunes and now its stuck on connect to itunes......i tried to jailbreeak and unlcok again but after the pineapple shows and does its thing it goes to apple then to connect to itunes....NOW what??? Can i correct this? thanks

Mine is taking too long in step 11... did you guys took too long as well... about 5 mins fething the iPad data and then it's still sutck in waiting for reboot for the past 10 mins or so.... not sure what to do... any ideas????

I've got it done! Had to cancle my first attempt that was taking too long and tried again... the second time it worked well....
