Google is preparing to release Google Voice as a fully functional iPhone WebApp, according to a report by the New York Times.
Google says it is readying a replacement for the Google Voice app that will offer exactly the same features as the rejected appexcept that it will take the form of a specialized, iPhone-shaped Web page. For all intents and purposes, it will behave exactly the same as the app would have; you can even install it as an icon on your Home screen.
This comes after Apple's much publicized rejection of Google Voice from the App Store. A decision which prompted the FCC to launch an investigation into the relationship between Apple and AT&T.

Hahaha well gone Google. That's a big finger to Apple. Google can do anything they want, what were Apple thinking messing with them.

Yeah i doubt there will be any notifications either, then again it might not have been part of the GV app store version either. Aren't we still waiting on gmail notifications? let alone free text and voicemail notifications. If this had real push notifications it would save 20 bucks a month in text messages, and I would have no problem replacing the native SMS and phone apps with a webapp. I can use GV for everything except maybe free mobile to mobile calls on 1 or 2 numbers that I use the majority of my phone time calling (to avoid massive minutes overages because GV USES ATT minutes on all calls).

Sounds, good, but one thing you can't get from a web app is notifications (I think).

GV is somewhat weird, from what I can see from texting is that it just relays your message...I'd like it better if it was more of a VOIP or if it went through your WI-FI connection when it's available.
Atleast it works really good.
