Apple will reportedly release a low-cost iPhone for China and other emerging markets in the second half of this year, according to DigiTimes' supply-chain sources.
Some sources claimed that they have seen the sample of the low-cost iPhone, which will come with a larger display, meeting the prevailing trend for the adoption of 5-inch displays for high-end models. They added that the low-priced iPhone will also have a brand new exterior design.
The site suggests that perhaps Qualcomm's Snapdragon chipsets for entry-level to mid-range smartphones could pave the way for the device.
Additionally, Apple is expected to launch a TD-version of the iPhone for China Mobile. Notably, Tim Cook is currently visiting with high-level officials in China and could also be meeting with China Mobile officials.

no way..this is a premium product and should remain in the premium category. we don't want cheap iphones the same way we dont want cheap BMWs for non-emerging markets.

Wow! China makes iPhone for Apple and then twists Apple's arm to give subsidy for its own market. Well played China! Well played!!
