This Apple Watch Was Gold Plated for $399 [Video]

If you really want a gold Apple Watch but can't afford the $10,000+ price tag, check out this video from TechSmartt.

Keaton Keller used the $399 service from WatchPlate.com to turn his stainless steel Apple Watch gold.

The company uses 24k gold and applies a coating about 35 microns thick onto your Apple Watch. This is apparently above the industry standard of 5-6 microns.

Frequent cleaning is recommended to maintain the beauty of your gold plating. Regularly wipe your Apple Watch carefully with a soft cloth to keep it clean and free of elements which can oxidize. With proper care, the plating will last for years, but if you do need it to be retouched, we will replate your watch for a flat fee of $199 per replate.

The process involves dipping the watch in about 3 inches of fluid for about 20 minutes total.

This is much easier on the watch than Apple’s recommended maximum of 3 ft submersion for 30 minutes. That being said, because this is a new service, we don’t know how Apple’s warrantee policies could change regarding gold plating. Nonetheless, in the unlikely event that our gold plating comes off or shows signs of imperfection within the first 30 days, we will repair the plating to our high standards of quality. Thereafter, we will re-plate your watch for a flat rate of $199.00 for as long as you own the watch.

Take a look at the video below and let us know what you think in the comments!

Cheesy color, not hardened, will show immediately it's fake once people start to see in store and appear with the REAL 18k real watches. Ask yourself: will it scratch !? ;)

You did not say if the plating job invalidates your warranty? Also I assume the watch worked after it was plated? Did they have to pull it apart to do the plating? I like the look but the watch, even the mid priced one, is pretty expensive you had plated. I admit this was ingenious. I'm not getting the watch yet... maybe after the next one comes out and I see if there are any changes to be made. What will it look like after the watch gets some scratches? All watches scratch!

It won't be easy scratching the Apple watch.

Be happy with what you have, you don't need a f**king gold watch. If you like the I watch, they all work the same doesn't matter what they're made of on the outside. Why is it that people who buy more technology than others don't seem to be as happy as everyone around them? It's never enough and they always want more.

I'd consider it if it didn't glare that much.
