Apple has officially sent out invitations for a media event scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2026. The company is inviting members of the press to New York City for what it describes as a "special Apple Experience."

Unlike the typical keynote presentations streamed from Apple Park in Cupertino, this gathering is being positioned differently. The "Apple Experience" branding suggests a more hands-on format, similar to a creator-focused event the company hosted in Los Angeles in January. Holding it in New York suggests Apple is planning a press event with live demos instead of its usual pre-recorded presentation.

The timing comes as reports continue to point to a broader hardware refresh. Inventory levels for current models have been tightening, and supply chain sources say Apple is getting ready to introduce updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. The rest of the Mac lineup is widely expected to move to the M5 generation as well.

There is also speculation about a new addition to the Mac family. Reports in recent weeks indicate Apple may be close to wrapping up work on a low-cost aluminum MacBook positioned below the Air. Rather than using an M-series chip, it's said to rely on an iPhone-class processor, with a clear focus on the education market and stronger competition with Chromebooks.

On the mobile side, the iPhone 17e appears close to launch. The entry-level model is expected to replace the notch with the Dynamic Island and could feature the A19 chip and MagSafe charging, while maintaining a $599 price point.

The iPad lineup may also see updates. Leaks point to a refreshed iPad Air upgraded with the M4 chip, alongside a new base-model iPad expected to gain enough processing power to support Apple Intelligence features. Finally, professionals could see the first update to the Studio Display since its debut. While the design is expected to remain largely unchanged, internal code has hinted at a next-generation model featuring ProMotion support and Mini-LED backlighting.
