Apple Stops Signing iOS 26.6.2, Blocking Downgrades From iOS 27

Apple has stopped signing iOS 26.6.2, leaving compatible iPhones already upgraded to iOS 27 without a way to restore or downgrade to iOS 26.

Although iOS 26.7 was released alongside the public release of iOS 27 on September 14, Apple distributed it only as an over-the-air update. No iOS 26.7 restore file, or IPSW, is currently available, so the update cannot be installed through Finder as a downgrade target.

Apple released iOS 26.6.2 on September 8 with build number 23G90. The update fixed an issue that prevented users from downloading software updates over a cellular connection.

With iOS 26.6.2 no longer authorized by Apple's signing servers and no iOS 26.7 IPSW available, Finder has no iOS 26 restore image it can install on those devices. Downloading the older iOS 26.6.2 IPSW does not bypass Apple's server-side verification.

Signing changes primarily affect users hoping to revert after an update, along with researchers and the jailbreak community, which often depends on access to older firmware.
